SerrBizSEF Sept 25th Upgrade Patch Important

Any SerrBizSEF components downloaded before Sept 25th 2007, should use this important patch. It fixes a duplicate content problem with the core Joomla Page Navigation function. This also applies to the SECTIONS / CATEGORY lists and blog menu settings. This patch is especially important for LARGE sites with many "sub navigation" menus. It also addresses a VERY important Virtuemart SEF problem and some bugs with Deep Pockets, and hot properties.

Problem 1:
When Joomla creates Page Navigation, it creates a UNIQUE id for each additional page it creates, plus (this is the problem) the FIRST PAGE.

For example:

.../Article.html uses MOS PAGE BREAK. When SerrBizSEF is turned on two new URLS are created:

...Article/page-1.html and Article/page-2.html

The problem is /page-1.html and Article.html are EXACTLY the same. The search engines will find this and you may suffer a duplicate content penalty.

As a remedy, this patch/upgrade will automatically set the page-1.html robots tag to NOINDEX/Follow. This assures the search engines will NOT cache the duplicate content.

Problem 2:

Virtue Mart 301 Bug Fix - IMPORTANT - MUST HAVE

VirtueMart V 1.0.12 uses a 301 redirect to set cookies. We discovered this AFTER releasing the original RULES. We have modified the VM rules to set the default inernal URL to have the vmcchk variable. If you do not use this NEW VirtueMart Rule, your VM cart may NOT get properly indexed in the search engines, even though it has clean SEFS. Please do read the detailed notes here.
