How do I configure Simple Image Gallery and place it in an article?

Question: How do I configure Simple Image Gallery for Joomla, and how do I use it in an article?

Answer: Simple Image Gallery is a fantastic little plugin that will allow you to assign any folder of images to an article to create a very clean and classy design addition to any article you write. Below we will show you how to configure the plugin and then assign the code to an article.

Before we begin, we are assuming you have already downloaded and instaled the plugin to your Joomla website.

Step One: After you have downloaded and installed the module, navigate to the back end of your Joomla site. Log in, and then click "Extensions" then "Plugin Manager"

Step One

Step Two: Once the page loads up, click on the plugin name. "Simple Image Gallery Plugin" . This will bring you to the configuration menu of the plugin.

Step Two

Step Three: Now you will be presented with the configuration page of the plugin. First, we are going to focus on the left hand side of the page. With this, make sure you that "Enabled" is set to "Yes" that way when you add the code into your article later, the plugin is active and looking for the code, otherwise nothing will happen!

Step Three

Step Four: Now we will focus on the right hand side of the page, we have numbered two of the fields you will need to focus on.

Step Four

1: Image Thumbnail width and height - Here you can set the maximum the images appearance size in PIXELS will be when you add them to the articles. You will still need to pre-size the images in an image editing program before hand. This option is only to make sure when you add the images that they donot take up the entire screen incase you are using large sizes.

2: Navigation Tip for Slideshow - If you choose, you can put a navigation tip in the slideshow, this can help the viewer when navigating through photos if you have more than one in the folder.

Step five: A little lower on the left hand side of the screen, you can see in the description the code you will need to use. The code is an opening curley bracket and a closing curly bracket. In the example, it shows you "myphotos" the gallery tag needs to always be the same, starting and ending with a curley bracket, in the between the opening tag and the closing tag, needs to be the path to the folder where all of your images you want to display are placed. In example, if you had a folder in images called "MyFavoriteImages" the command would look like(Without quotes) {"gallery} MyFavoriteImages{/gallery"}

Step Five

Step Six: Now that you are all configured, you can click the "Save" button in the top right hand side of the screen. Navigate to article manager, and create a new article. Once you have finished putting in your body of text and you'd like to add the gallery, simply put in the code, as shown in the example below.
