JCE WYSISYG - Add Article - Image - Front End

How do I and an image and article from the front end of a Joomla 1.0 website using the JCE WYSIWYG text editor?

Answer:

Before we start, LOG IN to the front end of your site and navigate to the SUBMIT ARTICLE page.

1) Add a title: Be sure to think about search engines and keywords when creating a title.
2) Select the CATEGORY the article will be seen in.
3) If you have "Intro Text" place your cursor in the intro box and ad you text.
4) If you want to add and image to the INTRO area, place your cursor in the INTRO TEXT where you want the image to appear, then click the the IMAGE icon and new window pops open
5) Click the UPLOAD IMAGE icon and a new window opens
6) Click the BROWSE BUTTON and navigate to the image location on your local hard drive. Select it.
7) Click OK - The UPLOAD image closes and the selected image is now on your WEBSITE and available to added into your article.
8) You can add additional parameters in the above fields such as width, position, border, etc. Click INSERT.
9) The media manager window closes and you are taken back to your article where you will see your image. Move down to the MAIN TEXT window. You can add the rest of your text and images here using the same steps as above.
10) When done editing your text and images click the PUBISHING link. Underneath you will see parameters related to publishing.
11) Set the article to either published or unpublished.
12) click SAVE or APPLY. SAVE closes the window and takes to the the article as though just "browsing.". Apply SAVES the changes to the database, but leaves the window open.

Question: The light box function of Virtuemart works sometimes and not others. When it doesn't work, it shows the thumbnail, but when clicked, it points to link that causes an error page. I've been pulling my hair out for hours trying to figure it out. I've tested templates, js, different images, different fly pages, etc. I don't know what it is.

Answer: I've seen this happen before. Having looked at your website I see the URL it's pointing to is /na. This is caused because you entered NA product detail URL field. What this tells the Virtuemart is that there is a URL for this product, and by default the creates a link to the URL from the thumbnail image. I removed the NA from the URL field and now everything is wonderful. The Virtuemart light box function for enlarging images works perfectly. If the problem occurs again, be sure to URL field is blank.
