Last week we helped HelpMerchants.com convert from X-cart to Joomla 1.5 and Virtuemart. Specifically, we built a Joomla 1.5 template based on their existing design, but made it with flexible module positions for the logo and header messages, flash banner, etc. This format allows them to more easily maintain their new site as well as develop additional sites as they needed them for related business. Had they stayed with X-cart, not only would they have to buy a new license for each variation of X-cart, they would suffer the usual limitations of working with a system designed primarily as a shopping cart. Now, with Joomla 1.5, their cart also includes a content management system with easy plug-ins for forums, community building, lead generation and tracking and all the infinite possibilities of Joomla.
