Last week we helped HelpMerchants.com convert from X-cart to Joomla 1.5 and Virtuemart. Specifically, we built a Joomla 1.5 template based on their existing design, but made it with flexible module positions for the logo and header messages, flash banner, etc. This format allows them to more easily maintain their new site as well as develop additional sites as they needed them for related business. Had they stayed with X-cart, not only would they have to buy a new license for each variation of X-cart, they would suffer the usual limitations of working with a system designed primarily as a shopping cart. Now, with Joomla 1.5, their cart also includes a content management system with easy plug-ins for forums, community building, lead generation and tracking and all the infinite possibilities of Joomla. And, of course, we set their system up to be search engine friendly from the very start so execute an effect seo campaign. (The first step of SEO is make you site search engine friendly.) We executed this work in just a couple days and delivered package as two easy downloads for them to install on their own servers. We have updated Forms LT to work in Joomla 1.5 Legacy mode. In the process, we debugged a few issues and added a DELETE function on the LEAD DATA pages. Now, you can delete individual leads that are dead, or you simply do not need or want anymore. This is a commercial release.

Joomla 1.5 provides substantially improved SEF capabilities by creating SEFs based on the title alias of the menu items, categories, content items. *Section titles / alias, seem to be ignored when creating SEFs. Instead, the menu item title /alias is used.
This is a clear improvement, but there are still duplicate conent issues. |
