Google added a new feature to their Adwords reporting tool "Mouse over rate". This is a very interesting little report. It shows you if person hovered over your ad for more than one second. As you know, the system used to just tell you if your ad was seen, then clicked. This new report can give you an idea if the ad is at least attractive to the the user. If they are hovering over your ad, but not clicking, then, you know there may be something wrong with your ads message or creative but not severely. It may be a simple thing like pricing which is preventing the click. If there is simply no "hover" rate, then something with the ad is more severely wrong. It's not even attracting a "hover". And, so, it's time to go back and re-write, re-create the ad, adjust the pricing, adjust the targeted keywords, site placements, bids, etc. Of course, you should give any ad at least a week of run time to see some results. Be careful not to fall into the the obsessive compulsive trap of fiddling with your ad copy and keywords and bids on an hourly, minute basis. |
