How long should a URL be?
How long should I make a URL when creating it for SEO puposes? Generally speaking, we reccomend that you keep your URLS no more than 10 words. This is good rule of thumb. Sometimes it is unavoidable, like with a content managment system. But, it's usually best to be shorter.

Also keep in mind that you should try to keep your folder depth lower than 3 or 4 folder.

For example:

domain.com/section/category/document.html is OK.

A bad url might look something like this:

domain.com/section/category/keyrodfolder/keywordfolder/keyword/document.html

Note: Be sure to use keywords where you can. Take at look at this pages URL as example as well.
