Joomla Paging SEF duplicates URLS We have discovered a bug in which users of SerrBizSEF should be aware of. When Joomla creates subnavigation for a an item via the MOSBREAK function, a duplicate URL is created. For example: You have the orginal SEF of /article.html You use the MOSBREAK function which creates sub.navigation for the article. A second SEF is created called: /article/page-2.html In the sub.navigation there is a 3rd SEF which is created called / article/page-1.html This 3rd url is actually identical to in content to /article.html. This is duplicate content, and a problem. After much experimentation and testing, we have decided to set the following rule. If an SEF has /page-1.html, then the meta robot tag will be set to NOINDEX, follow. We are creating a patch for this. In the mean time, you recommend that you MANUALLY search for all instances of /page-1.html and MANUALLY set the SEF to use the NOINDEX, follow tag. This should eliminate any issues you might have with duplicate content and the search engine spiders. Note: To completely AVOID this issue, you should avoid using MOSBREAK and simply create two articles that are cross linked. Note: In menu links to blogs, lists and table of content items, the duplicate content /page-1.html issues will still exist. Again, the patch will address this the same. However, if at all possible, you may want to avoid using paging whereever possible. If it is not possible, be sure to set all Page-1.html pages to NOINDEX, follow. Note: If using Google Site maps, set the importance of these pages to 0.
