SEO Audit for Vactaion Rentals
We received request to perform a SEO audit for an old school local directory that wants to now include vacation rentals as part of its SEO. They have asked to stay anonymous, which we have granted.
Starting with a private mode search of Google we discovered the target website, as we suspected, did not rank in the top ten, or twenty, or 100 of Google for the given search term. That phrase, "Vacation Rentals", is extremely competitive with a slew of big name advertisers such has VRBO, AirBNB, Expedia, etc. Those sites, and others, all have extensive content, back links and marketing budgets which will be hard to compete with, unless the target website has millions to invest in content expansion and advertising.
However, it's good to have goals, though we recommend they refine their goals to target hyper-local terms which will produce faster results. IE: City Name vacation rentals.
So, the audit.

Over at Quaro there was a request to help improve SEO for an Anime site hosted on Blogger: https://www.animekayo.cf/
To start, we would never host a site on Blogger as there are limitations to what you can do.We only use Blogger as a distribution point for official brand content.
That aside, this site had the following SEO errors.

Alexa.com recently wrote an interesting article about negative SEO (search engine optimization). In short, negative SEO is when, presumably, a competitor or just a malicious person, uses black hat SEO tactics to hurt your website. The 4 primary tactics are:
Spam links pointing to your website
Scraping (copying) your content and re-publishing on other sites
Negative reviews on third party sites you have no control of
Ex-employees / contractors messing with your on-site seo because you forgot to remove all access and permissions to your property

On November 16th, in association with GalileoTechMedia.com, Serr.biz attended the American Association Marketing NYC event at Bravo Media. While there, we invited AMA members and guests to give a quick elevator pitch about their company / services. Though the lighting in the space provided wasn't ideal, we got a bit creative in the editing process by reducing actual clip size and also played around with Premiere's Perspective > Basic 3D motion tool to make the videos more appealing. Overall, the feedback for AMA as well as others has been very positive. Additionally, the related Youtube videos and blog post on GalileoTechMedia.com has attained some top ranking in Google Video search and Youtube search for the search phrase "American Marketing Association NYC Event". Give it a try yourself and see what you can see.

Check out the power of a well optimized Youtube channel. Last night we (Serr.biz in association with GalileoTechMedia.com) made a quick sample video for a real estate agent in South Carolina. If you watch the video you'll see it was a simple montage with a voice over, music and is only 48 seconds long. Given that local real estate agents have to compete with monsters such as Realtor.com, Trulia.com, Zillow and others, we opted to target a geo specific, long tail phrase and titled the video "4 bedroom Johns Island SC". As you can see from the screen shot, in 10 hours, the video, because of it's content and our optimized Youtube channel and related social branded network, rose to number two in the YouTube search results page when we searched the exact phrase. Given that the Serr.biz network never referenced South Carolina before, does not have any citations anywhere related to South Carolina, nor does our live site reference South Carolina (before this article) we are pleased with the super fast results. The point is, if you commit to optimizing your YouTube channel, your Youtube videos, even if they are off topic can quickly rise in the search results, at least in Youtube.

For awhile now SEO's have known the importance of https (SSL) for SEO, but it has not been entirely embraced. Back in August, Google started sending webmasters via the Search Console, direct messages such as the following:
"Starting October 2017, Chrome (version 62) will show a “NOT SECURE” warning when users enter text in a form on an HTTP page, and for all HTTP pages in Incognito mode.
The following URLs on your site include text input fields (such as < input type="text" > or < input type="email" >) that will trigger the new Chrome warning. Review these examples to see where these warnings will appear, so that you can take action to help protect users’ data. This list is not exhaustive.
(FireFox browser also does this.)

In this video we show a live screen capture of a local Youtube seo marketing video we made for our client CBOstyle.com. In about an hour, the video we made hit the top 10 of Google search results in both the organic search as well as the video. As usual, there will be some fluctuation of the video, but given the relatively little competition for the specific phrase, it will likely settle into the top ten permanently. Of course, it also helps that the client continues to produce relevant geo local videos.

A couple weeks ago we shot a Youtube video titled Salisbury Antique Appraisals for our client Peenstra Appraisals. After editing down the two hours of raw video footage into an 8 minute highlight piece, we posted it on Youtube, PeenstraAppraisals.com and related social networks including their official branded blog: PeenstraAppraisals.wordpress.com.
Literally, in 58 minutes according to Google, Peenstra Appraisals , who had NO previous SERP for the targeted key term made it into the top ten of Google. This is pretty darn fast since there are over 122K pages competing for the same space. In a few days or so we expect the Youtube video along with the parent website site to replace the SERP result seen in the video. We'll check again in a week or so and post an update to the results. If you need help with your local search engine optimization including Youtube and social marketing, then give us a call.
