- Control panel > Email Marketing
- New
- Choose START FROM SCRACTH template
- Customize
- Add subject line
- ADD TO TEMPLATES
- DO NOT delete source email. That will REMOVE the template. Archive it instead.

It's. Mike with SERR.BIZ and today we're going to make an email template in the email marketing application of Odoo 18. So first thing we do is is pop over to mailings and then we say new. Now I can choose any one of these templates, but I'm going to show you how to use it and customize it, right from scratch using the start from scratch pre-built template.

Just click that and you see an open empty box start with. So we're going to head over to boxes here. Blocks rather we're going to grab the logo and drop it in. And it's going to obviously put in our information because our logo is already set and we've already set the Facebook and, LinkedIn icons, but we don't have X, don't like X anymore.

Instagram. And it's that other one TikTok there. So we don't have those. So we're just going to delete them. So we just click in and and delete. However what we do have that didn't pop up is YouTube. So that's a real easy fix. We just scroll down and the Wizzy wig editor and customize those.

And we go to Insert media and we go to icons, and we type here in YouTube. And we can choose any one of the icons. Let's go with this one. It's and we highlight it and we're going to pop over to SERR.biz YouTube channel, grab that URL, pop back over, select the icon again.

Scroll down to the media and add link, and we put that in and there we go. Now it looks a little small, as do the other icons. So let's change the size. That's just double it up. Let's go to grab the LinkedIn icon and double that and we'll double the Facebook as well. So that's big bold.

It’s there. It’s easy to see. Now we can head back over to our blocks. Let's just, add, let's add a picture with a header and we just drag and drop. Now, I could change this. This is a template, so I'm not going to change anything per se, but I could change it. As you can see, I could, you know, put your headline just to rewrite it.

Right. And, if I wanted to change the image, I could, for a template, I'll go ahead and just change it to show you how it's done. You select the image, then over on the right and customize click replace. It'll pop open. The media selector. Let's use, well, our most recent real blog post was self-hosting with O2.

If you haven't seen that video, go check it out. Let's say for our email template, we also want to just always include some other information. So let's put in some placeholder, let's do big boxes. But you see, you've got lots of choices. We'll drop that in right there. And same thing. I could just change these now even though that's using an icon.

I could replace it with, an image if I want. Let's say we wanted to put it in, in this case, a different image. And over here, if we want to replace it with another image, see one of our other videos, we could do that as well. But of course, I could link everything if I wanted to turn that into a link, I could add a link, but I wanted more details.

Obviously, we want to change that link. You can either just click the edit link button, which then opens the window here, and I can just put in the URL, etc., etc.. Now one important thing that we definitely want to include in our template is the footer. Because the footer information is where we have our unsubscribe. So we always want to send out emails with the options for readers to unsubscribe.

We've already got the social media information. I'm just going to delete this here. So because what's really important is we want to unsubscribe. So there you go. We've got the basic layout, I could modify it further etc., etc. but I just wanted to show you the general idea and let's get a subject line. This is a requirement.

Blog news template. You can call us anything you want. Of course. I'm just doing this. Because that's what we're doing here. And add to templates. This design added to mailing templates list. That's great. Now let's go check it out. If we go back and start another new mailing we see blog news template is now available to us if we click that.

All right. We just created and so as you can see it's exactly the same. And now of course I would modify everything according to whatever the new newsletter is. But let me give a new subject line our new, blog news email. Let's just save that and then go to back to mailings and there will be what seems to be two emails ready to go. Now, because I was creating a full email and then added it as a template.

It is left over in draft mode. And it's showing up here. It's not going to be sent. We found that if I delete this, it also delete it from the templates and we don't want that. So I'm just going to select it and.

Archive it and it's archived now it's gone now my new newsletter that I want to send out is available. And again if I wanted to create another one I would just go to new and it's still available to me. If I click it, again it starts with the template. So that's how we make an email template within Odoo 18
